HCRG Care Group have been working tirelessly to embed trauma informed practices into their organisation.
The team have developed a portfolio group with a mix of Adult and Children’s practitioners following a pledge made with the Lancashire Violence Reduction Network in support of a shared vision for a trauma informed Lancashire.

Being a trauma informed county requires everyone to understand that different life experiences shape the options available to us and our way of being and using this knowledge to influence our interactions and decisions both in personal and professional daily life.
HCRG Care Group have completed a self-assessment trauma informed toolkit and are the first organisation in Lancashire to have been peer reviewed by a neighbouring health provider enabling them to become ‘Trauma Aware’
As an organisation, HCRG Care Group are now working towards being ‘Trauma Sensitive’, this involves looking at the language used across their organisation and within organisation policies and procedures.
The training team are working closely with the local universities to support students’ awareness of trauma informed practice prior to their placements within the District Nursing / Health Visiting and School Nursing service.
Lisa Farrell, Named Nurse Safeguarding Children explains, “As an organisation, we really buy into the impact that trauma has on our service users and also the impact it may have on our practitioners who are providing a public health community service across Lancashire”.
